As Catholic educators, we personify Gospel values and are dedicated to teaching Christian moral principles. We strive to be role models that can be believed and imitated. As teachers, we offer students the skills to meet life's challenges. We believe that all students can learn and must be challenged to learn to their full potential. We are aware of each student's learning strengths and weaknesses and use effective strategies to meet these needs. Teachers show compassion, enthusiasm and patience in relating to each student.
St. Thomas More School students acknowledge the need for Christ in their daily lives. They are taught to live the Good News by work and example. Students strive to integrate knowledge and skills with their faith. Our students develop and act upon personal value systems including an active sense of fairness, understanding, tolerance, commitment, and service to others. They are encouraged to develop all their talents. Students are called upon to be active learners, experiencing and participating in all areas of cognitive and affective learning. Equipped with problem solving skills, our students are able to plan and achieve goals and accept responsibility for their lives. The belief that learning is a lifelong endeavor becomes part of each student's value system.
Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their students. They practice their faith and model a good Christian life. Parents encourage their students to accept responsibility for their own lives and learning, while showing them support and understanding. Communication and cooperation among parents, administration and staff members is a priority, which leads to an effective partnership in education.
