Early Childhood Education

Pre-School, PreKindergarten
Our Early Childhood Education classrooms are based on play and discovery education. Our team works closely to provide lessons driven by curiosity, exploration, and hands-on learning. Although two separate classrooms are maintained, due to part-time enrollment options, classes are occasionally combined to ensure children have opportunities to interact with other children, developing skills of collaboration, empathy, and self-regulation.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten takes on characteristics of both Early Childhood Education and the Primary School. Because formal Report Cards are issued, it is listed under the Primary School. However, the kindergarten classroom includes play-based learning as well as structured lessons in math and literacy.

Kindergarten - Grade 3
Our kindergarten through third grade homerooms are self-contained, standards-based classrooms. Teachers strive to provide learning environments where instruction, assessment, and grading are aligned to clearly defined academic standards. These standards outline what students should know and be able to do at each grade level, ensuring that learning is focused, measurable, and equitable for all students. Standards-Based Grading is used for students in grades K-3.
Middle School

Grades 4-5
A modified departmental structure is introduced in our Middle School. Subject matter is delivered by teachers who specialize in a limited number of curricular areas (Religion/Reading/English and Math/Science/Social Studies). Students travel between the middle school classrooms and receive more focused instruction. Traditional grading is used to evaluate students’ mastery of standards and demonstrations of learning.
Junior High

Grades 6-8
A full departmental structure exists for our Upper School. In this critical step in preparation for the academic and organizational demands of high school, subject matter is delivered by teachers who each specialize in two curricular areas (Religion/Social Studies, Reading/English, and Math/Science). Students rotate between the three Junior High classrooms, developing organization, responsibility, independence, and essential life skills needed for high school success. Traditional grading is used to evaluate students’ mastery of standards and demonstrations of learning.
